Ormond
McGill, the Dean of American Hypnotists, passed from this life on
Wednesday morning, October 19, 2005. One of the first stage
hypnotists to perform on radio and television, including the old Art
Linkletter TV show, Ormond authored many books, had a clinical
hypnosis practice and was one of my mentors.
Always
cheerful, calm, and non-critical, despite what was happening around
him, I once asked Ormond what his secret was. He said, "Life
is like a river. You never know what's coming next. When you try to
grab onto things and hold still, that's when the current bumps you. I
just let myself drift along, be carried by the flow, and enjoy
whatever passes by."
